Privacy policy

The Global Maniac is a reading site. You do not need an account, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share personal data.

What is collected

• Server logs. Like every website, our servers record requests (address, time, page, browser type) to keep the site secure and working. Logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.
• Analytics. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
• Your theme choice. If you switch between light and dark, the choice is stored in your own browser (local storage). It never leaves your device.
• Emails you send us. Story tips and messages are used to reply and to research stories, and are not shared outside the team.

Embedded videos

Some stories embed videos from YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo (with tracking disabled). When you play one, that service receives your request under its own privacy policy.
